Ancillary Services – Bookstore/Spirit Shop

Acts as primary point of contact for Bookstore staff regarding technical problems with Sequoia, the Bookstore’s integrated retail system. Liaises between users at the Bookstore’s various locations, the external service system provider (Sequoia), and the university’s computer support staff in the Library and IT Services. Troubleshoots and diagnoses systems issues/problems. Installs new computer equipment and software applications and resolves minor technical problems. Maintains eShop, the Bookstores’ web site and e-commerce system. Develops and maintains store signage, information brochures, and print-ready advertising materials for the Bookstores.
High school graduation with one year of post-secondary training in e-business or web technologies.
2 years related experience.
An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.
45 wpm keyboarding skills with a high degree of accuracy.
Excellent knowledge of a point-of-sale and integrated retail operating systems (e.g., Sequoia Retail system)
Good knowledge of web page application (e.g., Dreamweaver), development, maintenance, and electronic retail skills.
Good knowledge of common computer software applications (e.g., Word, Excel) and current peripherals (e.g., printers, scanners).
Ability to perform minor computer (PC) hardware and software upgrades and repairs in a networked Environment.
Ability to use desktop publishing applications (e.g., Illustrator Photoshop) at an intermediate level.
Ability to prioritize tasks/procedures in an electronic retail environment.

This position is located at both SFU Vancouver and Surrey campuses.
