About This Opportunity

Based out of our Hamilton Ontario site, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will execute Human Resources activities aligned with the business while ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and best practices. This role will play a critical role in leading and fostering constructive labour relations with key stakeholders and administering the collective agreements.


Provide advice, coaching and counseling support to local management in the labour relations area (i.e. contract interpretation, discipline, attendance management, grievances), and contribute to the development of leaders’ leadership skills;

Leads the labour relations agenda within the assigned region including the administration of collective agreements, labour management relationships

Participates in the preparation of collective bargaining mandates and in the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements

Effectively balance the advocacy of employees with the requirements of the business to ensure decisions are balanced

Lead investigations and fact finding on employee and labour relations issues within the region (i.e. harassment, and disciplinary issues etc.);

Ensures best practices are followed by staying current with labour and employment legislation and HR industry developments;

Contribute to continuous improvement and best practices to influence HR strategies, policies and procedures;

Drives implementation of Human Resources programs

Act as a change agent to support critical business initiatives and support leaders in all elements of effective change management

Conducting training for employees and managers as required (i.e. labour relations, attendance management, anti-harassment and discrimination etc.);

Champion the performance and talent management processes in the Region including participation in talent reviews and succession plannin

Support the management of illness or disability of employees related to either an occupational or a non-occupational absence and supporting the business with the development of RTW plans, accommodation, and injury/illness reporting.


Completed a University degree in Business and/or Human Resources

Minimum five (5) years progressive experience as an HR generalist with minimum of three (3) years with direct labour relations experience.

Experience supporting multi – location operations with multiple collective agreements -this role is responsible for two Distribution Centre locations located in Hamilton and London.

Proven ability to work closely with leaders to support the resolution of employee issues in a fast-paced environment

Customer focused with proven relationship building strengths and solid experience developing workforce plans based on business goals

Comfort and ability to thrive in a high change, fasted paced environment

Proven collaboration skills with the ability to gain consensus through personal influence

Demonstrated ability to invite diverse perspectives, promote an inclusive work environment and support workforce diversity

Accomplished team-builder, skilled at inspiring, motivating and developing people

HR data analytics experience is an asset.

Please note that this role is based in Hamilton and is not a Work from home position.

The successful candidate will be required to be present in Hamilton three or more days per week and travel to London once per month and/or as required.
