Are you interested working in a dynamic, fast-paced role, providing services to a large staff team? The First Response Team at Michener Services is seeking a positive and capable team member to work on a full time basis. As the ideal candidate, you will exercise professionalism, possess excellent interpersonal skills, collaborate effectively and have the ability to work independently. In addition, you will demonstrate flexibility working in various work environments and assisting to skillfully manage emergency situations.
In this role, you will be responsible to provide emergency and day-to-day services to adults with development disabilities who live at Michener Services. Working afternoons, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays on a rotation, the First Response member will assist with ongoing individual health, social, behavioral needs and requirements and respond to emergency situations as they arise in accordance to established policies and protocols. The role is required to provide personal care when needed. The role is required to be knowledgeable and proficient in medical care standards and practices. The role is able to demonstrate safe work practices compliant with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations.
The position respects the individuality of each Person served, and treats all with dignity. To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, be flexible, resourceful, creative and able to liaise with staff across Michener Services. Medical knowledge and abilities, experience working with persons with disabilities, experience with emergency procedures, alarm systems and documentation skill are assets to the role. Be a confident user of computers and Microsoft Suite programs. To be successful in this role, you will need to have good knowledge of computers and Microsoft Suite applications and possess working knowledge of current Covid protocols and legislation.
High school diploma and one year of experience working in group living, residential care or related care setting
A valid Class 5 operator’s license
Equivalencies:Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of 1 year of related education for 1 year of experience.
