WCG’s Rehabilitation Services and Vocational Assistance Program (RSVP) is delivered on behalf of Veterans Affairs Canada and in partnership with Lifemark Health Group. This role ensures data integrity and accuracy and provides reports and other analytical outputs, supporting the integration and maintenance of business systems to support operational requirements.
As a member of our strong and professional team, you provide technical support for the Business Intelligence and Information Technology teams, maintaining and improving a large technology platform database for RSVP. You use data to drive sound business decisions and measure change.
What you’ll do
Develop processes for optimizing database security, set and maintain database standards and manage database access
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure business and technical architecture solutions aligns with program requirements
Install, upgrade and manage database applications, and diagnose and troubleshoot database errors
Create and manage database reports, visualizations and dashboards
Ensure reliable system availability through optimization and security provisions
Contribute to development, implementation, administration and maintenance procedures
Design and implement redundant systems, policies and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets
Install database software releases and system upgrades, and evaluate and install database patches
Monitor and maintain the day-to-day operations of the environment
Coordinate with vendor resources to facilitate access and implement changes to vendor-integrated systems
What you bring
A minimum of three (3) years’ recent and demonstrated experience with a minimum of one (1) relational database system in the IM/IT industry within the last five (5) years, which must include:
Providing specialized expertise and practical assistance in use of database management systems and the manipulation of data for information systems, including work at any stage of the database life cycle (feasibility, design, development and service delivery)
Defining security requirements for all data elements
Defining and customizing data conversion strategies, specifications and routines
Managing and organizing electronic databases in order to ensure share ability, coherence, availability, accuracy, completeness and integrity to meet informatics needs
Experience with ETL technologies and processes
Direct experience with SQL, at least one programming language, ETL technologies, databases and big data platforms
MS SQL Server or Azure Administration experience
Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Experience with back-ups, restores and recovery models
Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
Employment conditional on obtaining federal Reliability Status security clearance
