Business Intelligence Developer Job at LG Electronics Canada – Toronto, ON

The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for supporting the maintenance of our BI infrastructure and delivering key improvements to the platform through comprehensive data analysis, BI software application and design.

Data Cube Maintenance & Development:

  • Define business needs and translate into project specific action through proactive communication with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborative work relationships that focus on both the quality of the technical solution as well as organizational acceptance.
  • Own the development of key strategic initiatives and continuous improvement for the set of BI existing tools.
  • Collaborate with BI Architect to define the best course of action related to maintenance and new developments.

Solution Development:

  • Gather business requirements and facilitate key BI initiatives in partnership with the business units
  • Evaluate best-in-class tools / programs to help facilitate corporate business intelligence
  • Leverage the value of data acquisition. Think data first, and promote treating our data pool as a strategic asset.
  • Troubleshoot BI tools, systems, and software and performance-tune these applications as necessary
  • Design, document, code, test, and document all new or modified BI systems, applications, and programs
  • Identify and develop data warehousing opportunities ensuring integration with internal and external data sources
  • Assist in database/data warehouse design to ensure interoperability with BI solutions

Documentation & Support:

  • Produce ETL design guidelines (documentation) to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the BI system
  • Ensure high levels of BI availability through support functions and in-depth testing


  • Experience or extensive knowledge and understanding of database development (SQL Server), ETL (SSIS), OLAP (SSAS).
  • Experience in reporting tools
  • Advanced Excel
  • Proficient database management skills, familiarity Dimensional data models and data warehouse concepts.
  • Data visualization tools experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university preferably in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or Information Systems or equivalent work experience
  • Experience managing data based projects. Establishing project plans and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to grasp and understand complex systems and see the big picture.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Microsoft SQL server.
  • Practical Experience in other languages like Python, C#, or VBA
  • Passionate about data and data management tools
  • Experience or knowledge on Cloud solutions
