As a member of the Indigenous Education and Affairs team, you will be instrumental in supporting the Director with daily operational needs through coordination of special projects, administrative work and report creation. We are looking for someone to help us continue building our Indigenous Education and Affairs team by assisting with projects and creating exceptional experiences for our employee and student community. By providing confidential administrative support and being the first point of contact between partners, the community and the office of Indigenous Education and Affairs, the Assistant to the Director is an important member of the team helping Capilano University reach its goals.

What you’ll do

Researches trends in Indigenous Education and Outcomes, and prepares summary reports.

Assists in the preparation and monitoring of operating budgets and capital

Identifies and gathers information regarding issues requiring administrative action, including determining whether an issue needs to be escalated to the Director or another administrator or can be handled by the Assistant

Facilitates communication and arrangements between the Director’s office and both internal and external contacts with tact, sensitivity and judgement as required

Attends various community events representing IEA as needed.

Prepares a variety of material such as letters, correspondence, reports, notices, flyers, newsletters, master lists, spreadsheets and budgets; drafts correspondence for signature.

What you’ll bring

Completion of two years (approximately 60 credits) of post-secondary education in a related field.

Three years of directly related administrative support experience.

Experience working with Indigenous communities and students.

Days and Hours of Work

Our standard work week is Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm. Remote/flexible work locations may be a possibility for this position.

Pay group 18 starts at $ 4,186.00 per month (based on full time hours) with incremental increases up to $4,712.00.
